Miho Imamura especially in Japan sometimes

While politeness is a big part of social culture, especially in Japan, sometimes it's possible for a man to be too polite. American men are usually more assertive than Japanese men; they tend to take more chances and gain bigger rewards. Sometimes politeness in a man can be mistaken for weakness. If a man is "too" polite, he might come across as overly deferential, indecisive, ineffectual, or lacking in passion and commitment. It is great to have good manners, but not when it costs you what you really want. Japanese women apparently like foreign men because they are more assertive, take more risks, and go after what they want.
